A temporary disturbance in the water called a sieche allows the Chicago skyline to be seen across Lake Michigan, sandwiched between the Michigan City East Pier Light and the west pier light. The tranquil scene is captured at dusk with the lighthouse beacon active against a purple-hued sky. A long exposure smooths out the rough waves of Lake Michigan.
